Leadership Effectiveness
| |
This program provides a broad process overview for the whole subject of leadership in small or large teams or organizations of people. It also provides the competencies to apply the process. Although there are different views about what constitutes leadership excellence, it is possible to distill the key themes or broad categories from which most good leaders will draw to greater or lesser extent. In total, 8 competencies are identified, and these are:
• Emotional intelligence • Contextual thinking • Directional clarity • Creative assimilation
• Change orchestration • People enablement • Reciprocal communication
• Driving persistence
These competencies are suggested to be the main factors that constitute the relative effectiveness of your efforts to lead others in a range of different situations. This might be leading a large organisation, a social or community group, a sporting team or just a small temporary project group. Ideally, these categories should be viewed as individual pieces in an overall “leadership jigsaw”. Although no one piece makes for effective leadership by itself, each piece works in combination with others to apply the leadership process.
Objectives include:
| • |
Recognize the characteristics of effective and ineffective leadership strategies and actions. |
| • |
Learn some personal skills and behaviors that might assist in achieving future leadership goals. |
| • |
Understand and apply the eight major leadership competencies in order to be successful.
|
Target Audience
