Singapore
George T.K. Quek is an accomplished consultant,
coach and facilitator who works with senior leaders like CEOs,
VPs and GMs and their teams to improve their individual and
organisational leadership and management performance. He has
trained, coached and consulted for more than 3,000 executives
and leaders from over 100 organisations throughout the Asia
Pacific in the last 5 years. Prior to that, he had over 15 years
of senior leadership experience with Fortune 500 and regional
multi-national corporations.
George is also prolific knowledge contributor to his field.
He is the author of the bestselling book "Service Unusual"
(2005) which is distributed throughout Asia and published in
English, Chinese and Thai.
In addition, he has published numerous articles including "New
Rules At Work" ", The Straits Times (2002), "Why You Should
Take The Plunge Now", The Straits Times (2003) and "Not Good
Service but Right Service", Asian Banker Journal (2005). He
was interviewed for articles "A More Structured Approach To
Mentoring", Today (2004) and "How to Structure a Mentorship
Program?", Hong Kong Economic Daily (2006)
Experience
George has lived and worked in Singapore, U.S.A., Hong Kong,
China, Taiwan, Thailand and Indonesia. As a result, he is proficient
in the local languages and conducts coaching, facilitation and
training in Mandarin, Cantonese in addition to English.
Primarily,
George focuses on providing holistic and "boutique" solutions
in leadership development, coaching, mentoring, leadership soft
skills to corporate clients in the Asia Pacific region in response
to their organizational and people development needs. In addition,
he serves as an executive coach to senior leaders and executives.
He is recognized as an authority on Structured Mentoring in
Asia having helped implemented mentoring initiatives for more
than 15 organisations in the last 2 years. In 2004, George launched
the first and to-date, the only program on "How to Set Up a
Structured Mentoring Programme" for HR professionals throughout
Asia. He is the partner in Asia of Clutterbuck Associates,
an European-based Mentoring and Coaching solution provider founded
by Professor David Clutterbuck who is the world's leading authority
on mentoring. George regularly conducts workshops on Structured
Mentoring with the Singapore Institute of Management,
Hong Kong Management Association and Thailand Management Association.
George is an adjunct faculty with the Center for Creative
Leadership where he coaches and facilitates international
senior executives on leadership and personal development. He
was part of the faculty panel for the center's inaugural Advanced
Global Leadership program. In addition, he is part
of an elite group of coaches specially selected by McKinsey
& Company to work with its partners. George is also the founding
director of DistincTions Asia, a boutique consulting firm with
offices in Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand.
Background & Qualifications
George worked across a diverse range of industries. He started
his career as a consultant with Andersen Consulting (now known
as Accenture) before joining ServiceMaster, a US Fortune 500
multinational that was on Fortune's Most Admired Companies list
and is renowned for its service excellence. He rose through
the ranks to become the Country Head for Singapore and later
joined a regional logistics services group as its General Manager
for Greater China where he lived and spearheaded start-ups.
He was subsequently promoted to become the Vice President/Business
Unit CEO with responsibility over 800 employees in 6 countries.
He was then headhunted to be the Director of Service Quality
Centre, the training and consulting arm that is part of the
Singapore Airlines Group. In addition to spearheading the local
and international business, George was also heavily involved
in providing training, coaching and consulting solutions to
Service Quality Centre's clients.
As a result of his experience, George has rich experience in setting up a number of successful overseas start-ups in these organisations. He has developed and demonstrated in-depth expertise in leadership and general management with complete profit centre responsibilities. Along the way, he was involved in operations, sales, marketing, strategic planning, quality, talent development & management as well as succession planning.
George earned both Bachelor and Master in Business Administration
from the University of Texas at Austin. He qualifies with a
Certificate in Corporate Coaching from Corporate Coach U, USA.
George is a Master Trainer for the WorkPlace
Big Five ProFile as well as a certified behavioural
consultant master certifier for DISC. He is also an accredited
MBTI and FIRO-B administrator
and practitioner. In addition, he is also certified in Center
for Creative Leadership's suite of 360 assessment tools like
Benchmarks as well as Conflict Dynamics
Profile. For innovation, George is a certified trainer
in "KnowBrainer", an innovation tool and process
programme from USA.
